With a total area of 267,667 km² covered by 85% of forests and an estimated population of around 2.278 million inhabitants, mainly distributed in the main towns, along the roads and rivers, the equitable provision of electronic communications to the territory constitutes a real challenge for the government of Gabon.

The objective of the mission was to provide ARCEP with tools enabling it to carry out an inventory of the country's network coverage, and then to establish a deployment strategy adapted to the various cases of non-coverage observed. To this end, data was collected from telecommunications operators and within various administrations, before being checked and validated by a field survey, and finally integrated into a Geographic Information System (GIS) which made it possible to carry out these analyses.

The implementation of the GIS constitutes a powerful decision-making tool for ARCEP and its institutional and private partners.

Another initiative, in February 2022, a series of five workshops was held in Libreville on the major themes linked to the development of the Internet in Gabon, organized by the Internet Society Association, Gabon Chapter (ISOC Gabon). These meetings involved numerous national and international experts with the aim of promoting Internet accessibility throughout the national territory.

While the internet now allows many Gabonese to work or communicate, it should be noted that it is not yet accessible to all, despite the investments made by the government since 2009. In order to be a benchmark in terms of connectivity, the entire country must be opened up. Its development requires the contribution of all stakeholders: the state, businesses, civil society, academia, and research.

Sharing a common vision of an inclusive, open, globally connected, secure, and transparent information society that promotes the socio-economic development of populations, ISOC Gabon intends to collaborate with all components of the country's Internet ecosystem. This is a necessity in a world where digital technology plays a key role.

In 2018, in partnership with the government and the World Bank, SING (Gabon Digital Incubation Company) was launched. The company provides businesses with digital transformation support services (consulting and diagnostics, IT solutions, etc.). It functions as a business incubator through its acceleration program called "Cohorte Innovation 4.0," which offers financing and execution support, as well as access to mentoring and investors, training, and more.
